Wardrobe Suggestions

For beach sessions, I recommend sticking to colors that compliment the scenery. Colors don't need to be matching, but I recommend picking a color palette for everyone to work with. I typically suggest starting with a neutral color (grey, tan, or white) and adding in 1-2 complimentary colors for people to pick from.  This includes all pastel colors, light green, both light and dark blue, soft yellows, etc. Please avoid having everyone wearing the same color (ie. white shirt).

Here are some sample combinations that work well together:

-Grey, light blue, soft pink

-White, turquoise, light blue

-Tan, soft green, soft yellow

-Grey, peach, light blue

Here are some things to avoid:

-Black

-Bright colors (hot pink, orange, bright yellow, bright green, etc.)

-Articles of clothing with logos or busy patterns. Minimal pattern is okay for women, but please note that in larger groups patterns can be distracting.

-Men please avoid plaid. Too many different plaid and stripe patterns can clash with each other. Solid colors work best.

-Casual shorts or short skirts (mens dress khaki shorts are okay)

-White shirts for everyone

Be wary of:

-Clashing shades of the colors selected (ie. different browns that down blend well together)

-Dresses with layers or ruffles as these can blow around in the wind

-Sleeveless clothing. Be mindful of tan lines being visible.

-Lighter colors and thinner fabrics that are see-through in bright lighting.

Keep wind in mind when picking cover ups, skirts, and dresses. This typically are very  beautiful to photography because they create movement, but beaches tend to be a bit windier so be sure to pick items that wont blow around wildly.
